I’ve gone on the record a number of times with my conviction that, for most salespeople, we should keep CRM simple. I still remember the the days of Contact Manager applications, like Goldmine, that allowed salespeople to effectively manage their contacts, communications, and calendars.

I believe that, if salespeople can master these three simple activities, their sales will skyrocket. I still feel that way. Contact Managers addressed the most critical aspects of selling …

  1. Having your notes neatly organized electronically, in contact records, vs. scraps of paper in folders. Where you have been and what you have done.
  2. A record of your communications, once again, in that contact record.
  3. Reminders to get back with prospects or simply to stay in touch. Knowing where you are going, why you are going, and when you need to be there.

Nimble Business is a Social CRM that does all of this along with some quite advanced features that would be considered to be marketing related. For the single user, or a team of 5 or less, or the CRM newbie, it can be a little bit overwhelming. Still, at $25 per user per month (less annually), it is attractively priced.

Excerpts from Nimble’s Press Release …

“Nimble builds and updates contact records automatically, enriches them with social insights and history of engagement, and delivers actionable insights everywhere you work, including directly within email, on social media, on the Web and within 80 SaaS-based sales, marketing, customer service and accounting applications.

Nimble enables users to nurture relationships and work better together as a team by:

  • Unifying company contacts from Microsoft Office 365, G Suite, Gmail and iCloud; social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn; and via PieSync, more than 80 SaaS-based business apps into a single system of record. Data is consistent and current across platforms.
  • Enriching contact records automatically with social insights and engagement history.
  • Enabling users to look up missing contact details.
  • Delivering insights everywhere you work, including directly within email, on social media,on the Web, and within 80 SaaS-based applications.”

Nimble Business is a great, fully featured, CRM but …

Contact management is back!

Nimble Contacts is a new low cost solution for solo or small team users. At $12 per user per month ($9 when paid annually), Nimble has removed the price, and the features, barriers. Take away deals, reports, group messaging, and signals (social dashboard) from Nimble Business, reduce a few allowances, and you have Nimble Contacts.

You still get contact records with social discovery, email with bi-directional synchronization, and your calendar including tasks and activities. You have a mobile app, the Nimble Smart Contacts App, and a limited number of free Prospector credits each month.

You get the three C’s (contacts, calendars, and communications) done right and, if and when you are ready, your can easily upgrade to Nimble Business and take advantage of it’s more advanced feature set. The user interface is virtually identical save for its added capabilities. Check out their full FAQ!

Multi-platform synchronization

For some time now, Nimble has offered optional contact synchronization with Google via a premium third-party application called PieSync. We are pleased to announce that PieSync is now baked into Nimble on both their Business and Contacts offerings. Your first 2,000 contact synchronizations are free.

PieSync actually has the ability to sync with over 80 cloud-based applications, provides sophisticated workflow rules, and will allow you to sync your contacts across multiple platforms. I have used it for a couple of years now and it is awesome!

Excerpts from Nimble’s Press Release …

“What problems does the Nimble/PieSync integration solve? Teams and individuals have valuable contacts and engagement history strewn across stacks of scribbled-on business cards, spreadsheets, hastily added email contacts, multiple email accounts, social media streams, unviewed calendar reminders and siloed CRM’s, sales, marketing, customer service and accounting silos “

Do not confuse PieSync with a simple data connector that is triggered to export one contact record to another as a one-off one-directional activity. PieSync provides bi-directional synchronization which means that, if you update a record on one platform, these same contact record edits are reflected on your other platform or platforms.

I use PieSync Nimble with my Google Contacts. My iPhone and iPad are both connected to Google which gives me contact synchronization across all of my devices. As my email and calendars also bi-directionally sync with Nimble, automatically, my devices are mirror images of my CRM. Check out the PieSync FAQ!
