We have no new updates to report today. However, I did sit in on the Nimble email marketing webinar on April 10 and there were some interesting announcements …

  • If you need assistance with configuring your DNS settings for email marketing, you can schedule time with care@nimble.com.
  • Nimble is looking into the possibility of allowing multiple email signatures. No promises, but that would be awesome!
  • Canva, even the free version, is an great tool to assist in the creation of your own email design templates such as newsletters.
  • You will soon be able to share group messages with your team.
  • AI writing tools for messages are under development. No timeframe.
  • Also upcoming will be SMS, phone, and chat integrations. No timeframe.

Below are links to the webinar replay where they also demonstrate the basics of configuring/updating your DNS settings as well as other resources …

More on bounces …

If you whitelist the recipient inside your Nimble account, this recipient is no longer added to the unsubscribe list in the future in case of hard bounces. Hence, the whitelisted email list remains permanent and is not altered automatically in any way. The only way to remove an email from being whitelisted is by clicking the “Unsubscribe” button.

And in other news, support has advised me that using an unsubscribe link is not required to register bounces. It was previously suggested that this was necessary which never made much sense to me anyway:)

Before we continue …

Some of you may have noticed that I have a tendency to go into great detail, great detail, in my newsletters. However, if you click the button below, you will be taken to the AI generated podcast version of this email. Listen instead of read!

Double opt-in …

What keeps me up at night? Thinking about workarounds. We have all seen web forms asking us to sign up for newsletters. If you wish to do email marketing properly, you will want people to opt-in (agree to receive your messaging). Nimble does offer web forms as an option ($12 per account, not user, per month) and you can deploy two.

The first is where people will sign up for your newsletter. Once they do, they will be redirected to another form where they, once again, agree to receive your messaging. Web forms are configured to create contact records in Nimble. The first form creates the record, the second form updates the record showing that they have completed the double opt-in.

Now, what if you are offering some sort of a gift such as an eBook? You can choose to either put the download link on the page that houses the second form or … you can redirect them to a download after they complete the second form. All of this is off the top of my head, but I see no reason for it not to work.

Now, I would also like to see the ability to create a pop-up form for newsletter sign ups.  However, that feature is not available at this time and I have received no indication that one is currently on Nimble’s roadmap. Not that they tell me everything.

Welcome to the ABS Sales Corner …

I’m so tired of talking about email marketing that today instead I want to touch on my passion which is selling. This will be a regular feature going forward.

Let’s start by exploring new lead qualification and we will begin with the first stage of my Nimble qualification workflow which I call “Research”. This is all a part of me wanting to be perceived as being R.U.M. (Remarkable, Unique, Memorable).

Before I meet with anyone, I want to learn as much as I can about them. Call it due diligence and very few salespeople will take this step. You have seen this for yourself. You have a website and an awesome presence on LinkedIn.

You want people to know who you are and what you do. Yet, the first thing someone says to you before asking for your money is … “What do you do?” #fail. Instead …

  • Create the contact record. Nimble will attempt to discover social profiles and other good stuff! I have also created custom fields for “personal interests”, “professional interests”, and “commonalities”.
  • Conduct a Bing search in their Nimble contact record (Integrations Tab). This will disclose many sources of information including (often) social profiles. Sorry, you cannot use Google.
  • Deploy Nimble Prospector and visit their website, LinkedIn, and other social sites and do not do so anonymously. You want them to know that you have been there. Take notes while doing this and these to the contact record.
  • Scrape their LinkedIn profile (email me and I’ll share how!) and create a bio summary PDF that you can attach as a file in their record.

Here’s the best part! Tell them what you have done and what you have learned. You have now separated yourself from the rest of your competitors! Doing all of this skulduggery is only creepy when you try to hide it:) Sharing it shows you to be the consummate professional that you are! It’s also the perfect conversation starter!
