No new updates to report, but still lots to talk about!
Email Marketing & Message Allowances
With the advent of Nimble introducing email marketing tools, I have always found a lot of confusion regarding message allowances. Let’s see if we can help to clear that up.
Your standard Nimble subscription includes up to 1,000 group or sequence messages per month per user. This allowance has nothing to do with your ability to send individual messages to your contacts.
Your provider, typically Outlook or Gmail, controls those allowances. For example, my Google Workspace allowance is 2,250 per day. However, this is often deceiving. For example, looking at a Microsoft document for an account with 5,000 daily messages, I found two limitations including a maximum of 500 recipients per message.
Let’s say you are a single user. You could send 2 group messages to 500 people each per month. That is 1,000 group messages total. Or, if you have a 4 message sequence, 250 people could be placed in that sequence each month. If they receive all 4 messages … 1,000 messages total.
Things to note …
- That is 1,000 messages per user per month. For two users, you will have 2,000 messages shared.
- Unused messages do not carry forward to the next month.
- You can purchase additional message allowances for a monthly fee or as a bulk purchase. Unused messages on the monthly plan do not carry forward. Bulk messages are yours to use until they run out, although at a slightly higher initial investment.
- Additional message charges are per account, not per user. Read this article to learn more about purchasing additional messages.
Nimble also offers a premium email marketing feature at $15 per account per month. While this account allows you to send unlimited messages, however, that count is still governed by your message allowance. You do not need an email marketing account to send group or sequence messages, but I would limit sends to no more than 250 at a time. This is my best guess, not fact.
The email marketing feature only …
- Allows you to send unlimited messages as they are not going out through one of your connected email accounts, circumventing those limitations. In order to take full advantage of this feature, you will likely need to increase your message allowance.
- You should not be flagged as a spammer, however, it is still critical that you clean your lists. Nothing can save you from a dirty list. Nothing.
- The email marketing feature includes dedicated email lists along with an optional double opt-in feature.
- This feature also allows you to optionally clean your lists. It does come with limitations in terms of the quantity cleaned per month and you can read about that here and how to increase email verification credits.
Ultimately, Nimble’s email marketing features allow you the opportunity to no longer need to use a third-party app to perform these functions. They are all now unified in Nimble. In fact, here is a recent Nimble article discussing this in comparison to using Mailchimp.
And, because I am feeling wordy:)
This only struck me recently. When I look at competitive CRM’s, their typical subscription model seems to be tiered. Do you want more features? Go to the next tier or the next. This is important. Let’s say that tier #1 is $25 per user per month and tier #2 is $50 per user per month. You are being charged per user for these features.
Nimble does not offer tiered packages. Instead, you purchase additional features, specific features, only if needed and the charges for these features are per account, not per user. These features are also available to all users on your account. I would suggest that Nimble’s program might offer considerable cost savings:)
One last thing – My best practices master folder may likely include assets not found in your folder when I set up your account. You may now access my folder here.
