Right before Christmas, the Nimble team onboarded me to Phase I on the new email marketing platform as a beta tester. I expect that this phase, at the very least, will be available to you sometime this month. Here is what you need to know and to prepare for …
The new platform will utilize existing Nimble features – From a practical standpoint, you will still send emails, group messages, and message sequences exactly the same way that you do now. The only difference is that you will have an additional bulk mailing address with which to send from.
Your bulk mailing address will be based on a domain that you own. Let me repeat that … a domain that you own. You will not be able to use a gmail.com or any other free platform. This can be a different email than you have connected to Nimble, but you will set two addresses … “sent from” and “reply to”. The “reply to” must be a Nimble connected email address.
Graphical Drag and Drop Templates should arrive sometime this month. Now we will be able to create purty newsletters:)
Emails sent via the bulk address will attach to contact records! This has always been a sticking point for me when using a 3rd party mailing program like Mailchimp or Constant Contact (emails not attaching to contacts) and still having to pay a separate additional fee there. And/or having to use a data connector like Zapier to duplicate contact records in Nimble. Win win!
As I expected … this new feature WILL NOT be an upcharge to your basic Nimble account! Any additional fees will be tied to usage. Right now, you are allowed 1,000 group or sequence emails per user per month and you can purchase additional emails of this type if needed. Emails sent via the bulk address will also count against this same allowance.
I was also told that this method of charges will be significantly less than competitive systems as their fees are generally based, at least to some extent, on the number of contacts in addition to the number of messages. I might have 10,000 contact records in Nimble, but I only send 500 emails per month against my 1,000 email allowance so … no additional charges por moi:)
Preparation – You will need to access your domain’s DNS settings. My domains are managed by SquareSpace. Yours might be someplace else like GoDaddy. Know where they are and how to get there. Next, determine the email address that you wish to use. Note that, if you only have one email address connected to Nimble, that is the one you will likely want to use.
The initial set up can be a little intimidating. For the record, I am not even close to being an I.T. professional. I was scared to death:) However, now that I have done it … I’m still alive. Bruised but not broken. Seriously, I am here to help if needed and we can get ‘er done!
There is still more to come! I am privy to a number of other new goodies that are on the Nimble horizon. As I don’t have the deets on these including release dates, I’ll keep those close to the vest for now. Hang onto your hats! 2025 is going to be a wild ride!
As for me … I will have a number of announcements coming this year including some exciting webinars. Stay tuned and thank you, as always, for your trust and for your support!
