Wow! Time flies and I have been super busy the last couple of weeks with new clients. The one thing that I really love about my job is that I get to meet so many interesting people, unique businesses, and learn more about both! Onward …

Regarding tracking individual link clicks by contact. As discussed, these now are included in group message reports. They will also appear in the contact’s record, but not where you might expect. Open the message, look top right, and then click on “opens and links”. Hover over each link notification to reveal the specific link.
What I have been working on …
Mostly taking care of clients. Lately, this seems to have revolved around doing a lot of imports. Here are some quick rules ..
- Garbage in = Garbage out. Make sure your import file is clean because this is what you will bring into Nimble.
- The first row of your file must have a name indicating what fields will be found in that column. These do not have to match Nimble field names. You can map them to the correct Nimble field or skip columns altogether.
- If you have fields in your file where there is not a corresponding Nimble field, you must create custom fields first so that they have a place to land.
- For the most part, imports are for contact records fields only. You cannot import tasks or notes. There are now separate routines to import resumes to create a contact record and to import email addresses only to your unsubscribe list.
- Take your time and evaluate your file overwrite options. What you choose will be based on what you are trying to do with a new import where you might be updating existing client records.
- Merge people on email then first and last names. Merge companies on names if no domain URL is found. When dealing with people records, in particular, an email address is the super glue for minimizing duplicates.
- Your file must be in a .csv format and remember to tag your import so that you can easily review these records for accuracy.
I do have one new client who has been busy scanning documents related to engagements that he has previously been contracted for. A single PDF document may be made up of multiple totally different sheets, including handwritten notes, and he would like to capture contact information from these while ignoring the rest of the type, logos, and handwritten notes.
While I saw a very little chance (no way!) of being able to do this, nevertheless I asked my chatbot Hal if he wanted to take a swing at it. He did and he delivered the goods! Outstanding! Everyday he surprises me:) Note that any document can also be attached to a contact record via upload or a link to a cloud storage location.
