When we think of Nimble CRM, most people tend to view it as a sales-related application. Being a salesperson myself, Nimble is perfectly designed for my profession, but what if you are not in sales? I prefer to think of what Nimble can do vs. whether or not your business is focused on selling a traditional product or service.
I should pause here to share what I believe to be a universal truth. If you are providing a product or service, and regardless of your specific duties or titles, you are in sales. Yeah, I know. The very thought of this may be abhorrent to you, but it does not change the reality. We’ll keep it as our little secret.
When exploring whether or not Nimble may be right for you, we can talk about three general areas …
- Specific needs. Needs and not necessarily wants.
- Responsibilities and focus. Are you in sales, marketing, customer service, or?
- Team size. Are you solo, a small team, or an enterprise level entity?
Where Nimble Excels
While I could wax poetic about all of Nimble’s strengths, Nimble is a very simple and easy to use CRM yet it is highly customizable. For salespeople and sales managers, Nimble offers workflows, deal records, pipelines, and a variety of sales reports. All of these combined with custom fields and activities makes Nimble a CRM that can be configured to work like you do.
it also features a number of inbound and outbound marketing functionalities …
- Web forms, web hooks, and web chats are all available for placement within, or outside of, your website as well as synchronization with a variety of 3 rd. party apps.
- Group messages and message sequences (drip campaigns).
- Dedicated email lists with optional double opt-in.
- Contact selectable unsubscribe preferences.
- Unlimited emailing capabilities.
While some of the aforementioned features are add-ons, Nimble’s base subscription fee is only $24.90 per user on an annual basis. Unlike many CRMs that offer tiers for additional features, which raises the fee per user, Nimble’s add-ons are per account. Individual user fees do not increase.
Where Nimble Might Not Be Right For You
Let’s start with this. I’m not so sure that there is any such thing as the perfect CRM. That being said, if you absolutely must have any of the following, Nimble may not be right for you.
Integrating with other apps – There are very few apps that would provide what I consider to be a full integration with Nimble. However, if your desired integration is very simple, data connectors like Zapier may be an option as might Nimble’s web hook feature. Applications will write integrations with enterprise CRMs, but read the fine print.
Advanced marketing and customer service features – While Nimble does have marketing related functions, it is not a marketing-first platform. Dedicated marketing focused CRMs will offer more sophisticated features. It is not well designed to handle things like customer support tickets.
Strong integration with social channels and social posting – While Nimble can identify social profiles for a contact, it has no facility to post to social channels, manage your social connections, or message these connections socially.
These features may be found on some enterprise level CRMs, like HubSpot or Salesforce, along with their premium pricing (read the fine print). However, Nimble’s Prospector browser extension will allow you to create and manage Nimble contacts from anywhere on the web.
A note of caution – There are a number of applications, many claiming to integrate with specific CRMs, that will offer advanced features for the social networks. However, using them may very well violate that network’s terms of service and you may be risking suspension or banishment from said network.
Inbound and outbound calling – While on Nimble’s roadmap, these features are not currently available. There is, however, a tight integration available with a product called Phoneburner.
Team size – Nimble is probably best suited for solopreneurs and small teams. In my experience, 10 would be a good number although I have heard of teams of up to 50. It is not an enterprise level CRM and, if you are comparing Nimble to one of these … someone is sitting in the wrong pew:)
Industry specific CRMs – While Nimble, as was previously mentioned, is very customizable, your industry may offer off the shelf programs that have been designed to specifically address your unique needs.
Miscellaneous – If you need to print reports … negative. You are able to export certain records, however, as .csv files which can be converted to .xls. There are also no off-line capabilities. An internet or cellular signal is required.
Ultimately, the right CRM for your business will be the one that you and your team will use and use consistently. Certainly, I am available to answer any Nimble questions that you may have!
